popular attractions in Memphis. The
recording studio is still in use.

Sun Studio has been given National
Landmark status by the National Park
Service in recognition of its place in music
history. Founder Sam Phillips lived long
enough in 2003 to be told of this honor.

The renovated Overton Park Shell is
now hosting live music again. This is
where Elvis wiggled and the girls
screamed for the first time. Today the
Shell looks closer to its original
appearance.
